STEP 2: STRETCH THE CANVAS

After building the frame, you stretch your own fabric canvas over it using a staple gun. It's a hands-on, tactile process that asks for a bit of focus and care, but it's far less intimidating than it sounds. With our video guidance and step-by-step support in the included Digital Art Guide, you're never left guessing. Just fully present in the making.

STEP 3: PAINTING

A REAL ARTIST
EXPERIENCE

Stretching your own canvas is raw, practical, and deeply satisfying. It connects you directly to the materials and gives you a genuine sense of building something from scratch, before any paint is involved.

GUIDED EVERY
STEP OF THE WAY

You’ll have access to our digital art guide, including clear video tutorials for canvas stretching and staple gun use. Whether it’s your first time or you just want a refresher, the guidance is there to build confidence and remove any intimidation.

CHOOSE YOUR
CANVAS

Depending on your kit, you’ll work with either raw cotton or raw linen canvas. Cotton has a softer, more even feel, while linen is more textured and organic, giving marks a slightly looser, more expressive character.

RAW CANVAS
BY DESIGN

Our canvases come unprimed on purpose. Raw cotton and linen allow the paint to behave differently, soaking in and giving each mark more depth and character. If you prefer to prime, we recommend doing so after stretching.

READY FOR YOUR
CREATIVITY

This step prepares the canvas for painting: fully stretched, properly tensioned, and ready for colour. From here on, it’s all about what you want to create.
